Kaylee and I have begun reading the whole Bible together as a couple and discussing it as we go. So far, we have read Genesis 1-3 and as we go I am making discussion questions for us to review as we finish reading every so often. As I was preparing the questions, it begins with the awe and wonder of God creating EVERYTHING in under 7 days. Then we get to learn a lot more about his final, but most proud creation: man and woman. Not too much farther, when we get to chapter 3 (yes, it only takes 3 chapters in the WHOLE ENTIRE BIBLE) we get the fall of man and the introduction of sin into the world. As I was making these questions, I begin to think about the whole scenario of sin and Adam and Eve. These two (first ever human beings to walk this earth) are placed in this beautiful location called the Garden of Eden. This place is like heaven on earth. It is absolute perfection and these two individuals are walking and living in absolute perfection as well. They are walking around naked and they do not even know they are not naked because they felt no shame. They are living in a faultless, perfect society of them and all the animals and birds and fishes God created. Until one day, (by the way, if you do not know the story, there was only one tree in the whole entire garden that God told them not to eat from or even go near) a deceptive and cunning serpent tricked Eve and passive Adam to eat of the forbidden fruit on the forbidden tree. At that absolute moment, shame, sin, blame, hiding actions, nakedness came into the world. As the title of my post states “So easy, even Adam and Eve could do it!” is in reference to sin. SIN is EVERYWHERE in our world and it is so easy for us, as Christians and non-Christians to take the easy, sinful way out of things. Adam and Eve lived in a world that was perfect! Only them and God and God’s creation and they still sinned! By no means and I saying sin is okay in this post. What I am trying to say is the power of sin is great. It is deceptive. It is cunning. It is filled with lies and twisted truths. It is EVERYWHERE. If God says “NO”, sin says “YES”. My prayer for myself, my loved ones and everyone in this world is to fight the easy way out. Submit EVERYTHING over to God! Let Him handle the battles of temptation, anger, lying, cheating, swearing, drunkenness, etc. We are not strong enough to fight this on our own! TRUST ME, I HAVE TRIED!! (and failed to an even worse state than I was when I was sinning!) Sin entered the world easily. Sin exited through the excruciating, painful, agonizing suffering of Jesus Christ on that cross over 2,000 years ago. Once Jesus rose from the dead and conquered the grave, death and sin was defeated. There is hope. There is a way out. Don’t let the enemy tell you anything otherwise! God’s word reigns supreme! Cling on to it with all you have!!
In Christ’s Love,
Josh
